The JazzZone is continuing the legacy of Jimmie Owens, a legacy of musical genius. James Owens Growing up in East St. Louis. James Owens began his career in music during music classes at Lincoln High School with his brother Hilton Owens and the young Miles Davis. As a drummer, Jimmie Owens played in the Big Bands at the famous Central Avenue Dunbar Hotel, Club Alabam, the Persian Room, and several other locations in the Los Angeles area. Closing his career playing on the famous Playboy stage at the Old Pasadena Jazz Festival in Pasadena, CA.
